I love Saturdays.

We went to the beach today, mainly with the idea of scoping out the location the photographer gave me. That entrance for the beach was temporarily closed, so we didn't get there.

Instead, we went about a mile back and ventured out from there. God, I love the beach. We are all at our happiest there. Oldest Son tried to dig to China, and Youngest Son alternated between helping Oldest Son and just running around like a nut. It was an overcast day, and there was plenty of breeze. In fact, I was glad I'd layered, adding a long-sleeved t-shirt at the last minute.

There was a large group of college kids renting one of the vacation houses just up the beach from us. Two of the guys came running down to the shore, hollering the whole way, before flinging themselves into some mighty cold water. Hubby very quietly commented they were only hollering so their screams wouldn't be heard back at the house when they hit that cold water, and that 30 years ago he would have done the same thing. Cracked me up.

There were plenty of surfers out today, all decked out in their bodysuits. For a while we watched a couple of them who had drifted down our way. I can see why surfers are so passionate about their hobby. It just looks so fun.

Hubby and I played the "If We Were Rich" game, and picked out houses along the beach we'd buy.

When we arrived in this city, now almost two years ago, Youngest Son wouldn't hardly take his sandals off at the beach. Last summer he was a little braver, but was ready to go home when a wave knocked him down. This year he is charging into the water.

Oldest Son has always loved the beach. We didn't go for the first time till he was nearly five, but he was never afraid.

Now we're all home and showered and just enjoying the rest of the day. Kids are on the swings in the backyard, and Hubby is watching a movie. I love Saturdays.
