Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be real estate agents.

I am so pissed at our real estate agent in Charleston.

Just a few minutes ago I spoke with our relocation agent about the home in Charleston. We're going to be selling it to Hubby's company, since we haven't managed to sell it and are crushing under the weight of two mortgages, power bills, water bills, and lawn care.

Our initial offer number from the company was exactly what I figured they would offer (much, much less than the original price...or even the reduced price, for that matter, but we could live with it), plus an additional $250. But there's some repair that needs to be done, they say, that will cost $350. Okay. But THEN we get the offer contract, and it includes $6,000 for neutralization. WTF?????

The company wanted to charge $6,000 for refinishing wood floors, new carpeting, and repainting the bedrooms white, as well as removing wallpaper in the kitchen. They want the whole house white. Even the sunroom, which our real estate agent asked us to repaint the same color green it was.

Hello? We've already done all the floors, replaced and painted some porch spindles, as well as repainted all of the areas that were already white but were dingey and needed repainting. Our agent didn't tell them we had done what we had done and that it was exactly what she REQUESTED we do.

I told the relocation agent, when she called back after verifying with our agent that, hello, has half of this been done already? that we were most displeased with our agent. That we have found several instances now, via forwarded e-mails from the agent to the relocation agent to us, that she tells them one thing and us something else.

As it stands right now, we're going to lose another $3,000 from the initial figure. Making us a total of $16,650 from our original asking price, plus six months of double house notes. This has been a financial mistake in a big way. We are literally watching money leave the table.

In other news, Oldest Son's glasses that were promised today are not here. Maybe tomorrow. He has a baseball game tonight. This oughta be fun.

Off to see who else's life I can make miserable with my smiling sunshiney face.

Over and out.

Doesn't it just put your panties in a twist when someone else's incompetence makes you pay (literally and figuratively?) I'm so sorry you have to deal with this frustration.

That's awful! I hope your agent gets some sort of action taken against her for being so incompetent.

And real estate agent wonder why they are down there on the bottom of the "people we trust" list, along with used car dealers.

Is there a real estate agent in the town where you live now that you could talk to about ethics? How about the judge you work for? I don't do ask my judge a lot of how-should-I-deal-with-this-problem-type- questions, but when I do, he's always a fount of useful information. He always clarifies himself first by saying: I'm not trying to give you legal advice, but...
